Tilt and Turn Windows
Our modern and highly functional tilt and turn windows are the ideal choice if you’re looking for a window but you can’t decide exactly which to choose! With minimal design and an opening function that works two versatile ways, it’s no wonder these are a popular choice amongst homeowners.
Tilt and turn windows are known and liked for their versatile openings which increase airflow without subjecting your home to any sudden downpours. These windows open from the top or the bottom, and the usual way from its hinges on the sides. Opening from the top is ideal for basement windows, and a bottom opening will prevent any rain from getting in.
When used as a traditional front and back opening window, you can choose whether you want them to open inwards or outwards. The increased mobility of tilt and turn windows also makes them an easy to clean option.

Are tilt and turn windows secure?
While tilt and turn windows might seem less secure because of their multi-opening features, rest assured they are designed to be just as durable and safe as all of our other windows. Each opening and locking system is made to the standard of the Secured by Design initiative under the Police Force, deeming them a secure fit for your home. After we have installed your new windows, we will talk you through their functions so you are completely comfortable with their use.
How do you use a tilt and turn window?
The clever opening and locking mechanism is built within the handle function. Tilt the handle out to 90 degrees and pull towards you for a regular sideways opening to enjoy a cool breeze on a warm day. Tilt the handle all the way up 180 degrees and pull towards you to activate the top or bottom opening feature (depending on which one you opted for) and enjoy a little extra air for circulation.
Do tilt and turn windows open inwards or outwards?
Both, but in different ways! When it comes to the side opening, you can choose which way you want your window to open, inwards or outwards. However, the tilt function always opens outwards to a fixed degree to give you a cool breeze of air. These versatility functions are great as they let you control the level of ventilation.
How big can a tilt and turn window be?
It’s up to you! At Adorn Windows, we create bespoke products to suit your style and your home, so your tilt and turn window can be customised to you. Our factory produces tilt and turn windows that can be a small bathroom ventilator or a large living room window. Contact us to talk through your options.
How do tilt and turn windows work?
Tilt and turn windows have two different directions for opening. With hinges along the side, you can open your tilt and turn window as you normally would, like a door. This can be either inward or outward, depending on your preference. The other hinge is along the top or bottom, again depending on your preference, and the opposite side of the window will open. The tilt opening is a smaller gap, allowing just enough air in for ventilation and a small breeze. The versatility of tilt and turn windows allow you to have a two-in-one window that doesn’t sacrifice on quality or security. To see how they work for yourself, visit our showroom.
What are the advantages of tilt and turn windows?
Tilt and turn windows have boomed in popularity all over Europe in recent years. The ability to control airflow in your home no matter whether it’s sunny, rainy, or windy makes a big difference to your home climate. With these windows, you get a two-in-one option of a side opening and tilt opening without sacrificing on quality or design. Any more questions? Don’t hesitate to contact us today.
