Stable Doors

  • Keep those little ones safe and your living space bright with our family-friendly stable doors. You can enjoy the fresh breeze of the outdoors and an injection of extra light without needing to keep the whole door open. Stable doors are a popular choice for families with curious little ones, keeping them safely indoors while still having access to the outdoors.

Inspired by horse stable doors, these country-style fixtures add a classic and rural touch to your home, especially when you choose a woodgrain finish. With a lower half that can be fixed in place while the upper half remains open, it’s a great option for a little extra airflow into your home. You can choose from a variety of standard and coloured woodgrain finishes according to whether you’re going for a timeless look or want to add a splash of colour to your home’s exterior.

Stable doors are a great alternative to double doors if your door frame is not quite wide enough, and can really open up a room to the outdoors. You can enjoy the view of your garden and create the illusion of extra space while limiting the airflow to a gentle breeze.

Stable doors will keep your little ones safely indoors without the need for supervision. They’re also extremely secure, fitted with Yale locking cylinders and technology such as anti-drill, anti-snap, and anti-pick, and trusted by many insurance companies. You can rest assured knowing your whole family is safe with our high-quality stable doors.

Are stable doors secure?

With two moving parts that move independently of each other, you may think stable doors are less secure than standard doors. However, when both panels are securely fixed together, they work just the same as a normal door, with all the protection you’d expect. You can always opt for extra locks to be added for another layer of protection, as well as a bolt to secure the two panels together. Contact us if you have any questions about security.

How does a stable door work?

Stable doors are made up of two individual panels that can move separately or be joined together to function as a normal door would. Inspired by the doors used in horse stables, you can fix the bottom section while leaving the top open, allowing ventilation and a view at the same time as maintaining security. When your stable doors are installed by our experts, they will fully demonstrate the workings so that you are comfortable in using and locking them properly.

Do stable doors open in or out?

This is completely up to you! As with most of our products, we can customise stable doors to your liking. So whether you have minimal space inside and need an outwardly opening door, or a window that might get blocked outside and you want your door to open inwards, it’s your choice. A benefit of an outwardly opening door is that the top section can be pinned back against a wall, so you can enjoy some fresh air even on a windy day. Schedule a home visit to discuss your stable door options with a member of our expert staff.

Can you get uPVC stable doors?

In short, yes! PVCu is a popular material for many of our doors such as our stable doors. We manufacture all our products at our own factory, so your doors can be customised exactly to your liking. Whether you prefer a more classic woodgrain stable door, or a modern update on the style, we work to your specifications. Combine classic style with modern performance and opt for a wood-finish PVCu door for a fixture that is efficient as well as easy to clean and maintain.

Why have a stable door?

It may seem like stable doors are best used in the countryside and on farms, but due to their excellent practicality they are often used in urban houses. Many homes in the UK use stable doors to increase light and ventilation in a darker or stuffier part of the house.  What’s more, they’re also particularly useful for homes with children and animals, keeping them securely inside while allowing natural light and air into your home. Want to see how they work? Visit our showroom for a demonstration.

Can you get stable doors with windows?

Yes! Most commonly, stable doors feature a glazed panel on the top section of the door, so you can still enjoy the view or take a quick look outside without needing to open it. This also allows a little extra light into your home if the door is positioned in a darker area of your house.

When installing the glass panel in an exterior door, we always use toughened glass to maintain the highest security for your home. If you want to add a touch of personal style to your stable door, take a look at our decorative glass options for a splash of colour or something a little different.

We have invested millions of pounds into one of the most state of the art manufacturing facilities in the UK.  This enables us to provide you with consistently high quality products at exceptionally good prices. Our loyal factory workers are well trained and take pride in their work, they really care about quality.  Our machines are maintained according to a rigorous servicing regime to keep them in top condition.

Superior energy efficiency

Our ‘A’ rated energy efficient and triple glazed windows are tested by the BFRC, which will save you money on your heating bills. By law your windows and doors have to meet strict thermal performance regulations but you can be rest assured that our products exceed current requirements.

Energy saving is incredibly important and so is keeping your fuel bills down. We are continuously looking for ways to make our projects energy efficient and one way is to choose new PVCu windows and doors. Not only will they help to keep your project warmer, they will reduce your energy loss.

Don’t just take our word for it!

Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.

Our windows are tested independently by British Standards for security, weather tightness and strength performance. This means that periodically, we have to send them to independent test houses, in order to be tested to destruction.

These are just some of the many standards the products in our vast range conform to. Needless to say we take the quality of our products very seriously indeed.
