Replacement Conservatory Roofs
Is your conservatory in need of a facelift? Perhaps you are finding it too cold in winter or it is just looking dated in comparison to your style now? Luckily, there are ways to completely renovate your conservatory on any budget. Replacing elements of your conservatory can give you a completely new conservatory experience and might be exactly what it needs.
Upgrading your conservatory roof can be a costly process for some people, but it doesn’t have to be. There is a range of options that you could choose from when upgrading your conservatory to fit with your budget and style.
The most cost-effective way to upgrade your conservatory is to use Polycarbonate. This material is great at keeping your conservatory insulated, so it will feel warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
Opting for a glass conservatory roof replacement can make a huge difference to your conservatory. Our high performing glass can reflect as much as 78% of the sun’s heat, ensuring your conservatory doesn’t get too hot in summer. With U values as low as 0.8 you can also be confident that your conservatory is energy efficient.
We offer self-cleaning glass which means your roof will stay sparkling all year round, without the hassle of finding a window cleaner. Self-cleaning glass works by using a thin coating of titanium dioxide, which stops dirt sticking to the window panes. Even on the rainiest of days, the water will just slide off your roof, meaning droplets cannot form.
A UV filter on the glass helps to break down organic dirt further over time, making it easier for your roof to stay clean as the dirt washes off when it rains.
If you want the highest performing year-round material we recommend you opt for a full or partially tiled roof. We offer high quality, lightweight tiled roofs, meaning they can easily be retrofitted. Our newest products — Livin Roof and Ultrasky — allow you to choose which panels are glazed and which are tiled. This feature means you can control how much light you want to enter your home.

Can I replace my conservatory roof with a tiled roof?
If your conservatory has had a glass or Polycarbonate roof for years, you may want to switch to a tiled roof. You may think that a conservatory could not withstand the weight of a tiled roof, but with our lightweight design, a tiled roof can be a great addition to your conservatory. We will need to inspect your current conservatory to ensure it can hold a tiled roof, but most of the time one can be easily fitted without any problems. If your current conservatory meets building regulations then you will not need to apply for further planning permissions to add a new roof. We can even make your tiled roof with glass sections so that you are not losing as much light.
Do I need to replace my conservatory roof?
Although there is no specific best before date on conservatory roofs, often there are signs that you may need to replace your roof. These signs might appear after 15 years and include:
- Moss or algae growing on the roof
- Draughts or cold spots
- Increased noise pollution
- Reduced energy efficiency
Does insulating a conservatory roof work?
Some companies will offer insulating services for existing conservatory roofs. However, this is not a good long term solution and we recommend replacing your roof instead. If you are concerned about the insulative properties of your conservatory roof then we suggest opting for a new roof in thermally efficient glass or a tiled roof, which come with a 10-year warranty.
What is the best roof for a conservatory?
There are multiple options available to you if you are looking at replacing your conservatory roof. Polycarbonate is the most cost-effective option but does not last as long as other options. We would recommend a toughened glass roof, which is more durable and will last you longer. At Adorn, we also treat our glass so that it has insulative properties and reduces glare from the sun.
If you want the most thermally efficient material then you should opt for a tiled roof conservatory. This will give you more shade and reduce your energy bills and you could always add a lantern roof or roof windows for more sunlight.
