Common questions

What is a casement window?

A casement window sits within a frame attached by hinges usually along the sides. These hinges allow the casement window to swing open outwards, for maximum light and air filtration. Choose between single or paired windows within one frame, as well as side, top, or bottom hinges. Top hinge (awning) casement windows are better suited for wet climates, while bottom hinge (hopper) casement windows are ideal for low basement windows.

Are casement windows more energy efficient?

Casement windows are great for heat insulation, as the design of the window means the window sash presses against the frame when closed. This creates an airtight seal, preventing cold air from getting in and warm air getting out. You’ll feel the difference in your home and notice it on your bills!

Our standard window glazing is double glazed, and you can also opt for triple glazed casement windows for added efficiency. Triple glazing means a warmer home as well as more noise reduction from outside, which can be especially useful for street-facing windows.

What is the difference between a casement window and a picture window?

Casement windows are popular for their adaptable appearance and functionality. As they are attached to the window frame by hinges, they can be opened inwards or outwards for light and air filtration. Picture windows are what they sound like — a way for you to enjoy the view outside, with fewer panes and obstructions for a panoramic picture. Picture windows are also fixed, meaning that, unlike casement windows, they cannot be opened.

Are casement windows safe?

Casement windows can be opened inwards and outwards, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they can be easily broken into. There are hook-shaped locks that grip the window into the frame and make them difficult to break into. Additionally, their multi-locking system creates another layer of security to keep you safe and the windows intact.

How much do casement windows cost?

The cost of casement windows depends on everything from the size to the material, so we can’t give you a definitive price unless we know the scope of the installation. If, for example, you were making a simple upgrade from an old casement window to a new one, this would be an easy, low cost process. An entirely new set of casements would involve greater labour and higher costs.

In terms of materials, aesthetic choices such as timber and aluminium will cost you more, whereas uPVC is a more budget-friendly option. To get a better idea of price, get in touch for a free, no obligation quote now.

Are casement windows worth it?

Casement windows are a very popular choice as a way to increase light and air in a room and provide good filtration. Their insulation features mean they are also ideal for maintaining heat in your home as well as blocking out noise from outside. For those with limited mobility or disabilities, casement windows are ideal as they are easy to open and close and also come with a crank mechanism for doing so.

Our windows are made from British Made, high quality MarinespecTM components, with up to 25 years anti corrosion. They are built specifically for the more exposed areas of corrosion, such as coastal environments to give you worry free performance beyond your guarantee.  We believe spending more on components is worth every penny, and sets us apart from our competitors.

We have invested millions of pounds into one of the most state of the art manufacturing facilities in the UK.  This enables us to provide you with consistently high quality products at exceptionally good prices. Our loyal factory workers are well trained and take pride in their work, they really care about quality.  Our machines are maintained according to a rigorous servicing regime to keep them in top condition.

Superior energy efficiency

Our ‘A’ rated energy efficient and triple glazed windows are tested by the BFRC, which will save you money on your heating bills. By law your windows and doors have to meet strict thermal performance regulations but you can be rest assured that our products exceed current requirements.

Energy saving is incredibly important and so is keeping your fuel bills down. We are continuously looking for ways to make our projects energy efficient and one way is to choose new PVCu windows and doors. Not only will they help to keep your project warmer, they will reduce your energy loss.

Don’t just take our word for it!

Our suppliers conform to strictly controlled and independently monitored Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, to ensure that everything is done correctly and according to best practise.

Our windows are tested independently by British Standards for security, weather tightness and strength performance. This means that periodically, we have to send them to independent test houses, in order to be tested to destruction.

These are just some of the many standards the products in our vast range conform to. Needless to say we take the quality of our products very seriously indeed.
