How long do aluminium windows last?

One of the best features of aluminium windows is their minimal maintenance. Simply wiping down the frames and removing any dirt and debris can significantly increase the lifespan of aluminium windows. Depending on where the windows are installed, the amount of wear and tear, and their maintenance, they can last for up to 40 years before they need replacing. All of our windows come with a 10-year guarantee, and you can check out our maintenance tips here.

Where are aluminium windows used?

Aluminium windows have mostly been used for commercial properties due to their strength and durability. However, in recent years they have become popular in more modern properties, providing a slimline and contemporary aesthetic. They can also replace older windows on listed or period properties.

One of the advantages of aluminium windows is their low upkeep, needing only minimal maintenance and cleaning. For a lower-cost alternative, uPVC windows provide similar benefits at a cheaper price.

What are the benefits of aluminium windows?

Aluminium is a lightweight material that is commonly used for its slimline appearance. This means a thinner frame and more room for glass, allowing a great amount of light into your home. Aluminium windows require little maintenance and cleaning and can last for up to 40 years if taken care of properly.

Aluminium is a highly recyclable metal, and at Adorn we make sure to recycle 100% of our window products. Aluminium windows are a strong, elegant, and durable option that can help create a modern aesthetic in your home.

Are aluminium windows better than uPVC?

Both uPVC and aluminium windows have benefits that make them popular materials for windows. uPVC is a strong and durable type of plastic and provides a budget-friendly yet high quality window option. They remain energy efficient, secure, and ours are customisable with a range of colours and finishes available. Aluminium windows are a stronger material that cost a little more. One of the advantages of aluminium is a sleeker and slimline appearance, resulting in a thinner frame and extra light.

Are aluminium windows energy efficient?

While metals like aluminium conduct heat, our aluminium windows are fitted with a thermal break, meaning any cold air from outside won’t get in. This thermal break is a non-conductive material fitted within the frame, preventing the metal acting in its usual way, and creating an energy-efficient window.

Our windows come with double glazing as standard, and if you are looking for increased heat insulation and noise reduction, you can upgrade to triple glazing for maximum efficiency.

Do aluminium windows rust?

Unlike most metals, aluminium is rust-resistant, and although it can be prone to corrosion, our window frames have a powder coating to prevent this from happening.

With the proper upkeep and care, your aluminium windows will last decades with no rusting or corrosion. Keep your frames free from dirt and grit and wipe them down from time to time to maintain their quality and strength.
